Latest Hip Hop Artists - Best New Rappers for 2012

"Latest Hip Hop Artists – Top 5 Best New Rappers for 2012!!!

  1. Kendrick LamarHip Hop music from Compton California, historically, has been purely of the gangsta sub-genre. Kendrick is practically the antithesis of that particular style of music and – in my opinion – he will either: a. Be the savior to 2012 music and beyond with his extremely lyrical and skillful style of rapping or, b. this latest brand of hip hop – completely original unto itself – will be lost on the ears of 2012 music fans because of short attention spans and the public's tendency to like to hear the same old thing over and over again.

Perhaps Dr. Dre and The Game anointing him the new "King of the West Coast" will help to sway fickle fans in both hip hop and popular music. K.L isn't lyrical to be lyrical – it's just his
way of telling stories and making creative new music. He's very versatile with his flow and uses
live instrumentation in some of his latest songs (check out “Rigamortis”) and is surely
entertaining enough for this hip hop music fan and reviewer. I am more/less sure that even if he
is a little bit too “out there” for the average hip hop fan, he will always have his own niche
within urban music. He's just too talented, creative and animated not to!

  1. Big K.R.I.T. - Already 'on the map' for producing T.I.'s recent single “Flexin'”, if one were to hear this new music artist's own songs without having known ahead-of-time that he was a producer, they'd likely hear and feel that he was 'M.C. First”.

That's definitely not to say that B.K.'s production isn't top-notch – it truly is – he just has that
certain amount of heart behind his vocals that is reminiscent of great blues singers and other
artists from the South (Mississippi) who have made serious impacts in music history. Lyrically,
his latest hip hop offerings have been full of heart and compassion like Tupac's music was but -
and this is absolutely no knock to Shakur – he has a more fluid flow and a more expansive
vocabulary.

2012 music will definitely be impacted by Big K.R.I.T – I will go on record as to say that.
While we haven't heard quite enough from him to know if he'll be a lasting force in hip hop,
all signs point to “yes”. After all, he's able to engage a listener's emotions, mind and body all
at once – and he does so on his own!

  1. Stalley – When I first saw “Maybach Music” next to his name, I will admit that I thought tomyself, “I may just skip over this one" because my hope – no matter how futile – was that 2012's musical landscape wouldn't include too many Rick Ross-like hip hop artists. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised by what I heard from this M.C. He is more Common than Jeezy, has a laid-back flow that works perfectly with his well-pronounced voice, speaks on important social issues in his brand of the latest hip hop.

While, at first listen, most wouldn't think that Stalley is for everyone because of his conscious
rhymes and his Freeway-like look that screams “Black Muslim!”, those giving the latest hip hop
any sort of chance must remember that he has the same production team as Ricky Rose'. And,
even the most dedicated Rick fan will tell you that it is those very beats that play possibly the
biggest role in keeping the rapper at the top of the game. So, I would expect hits, conscious
album tracks, enough influence through his label to change 2012 music and some great
storytelling. What more could one ask of this Cleveland M.C.?

  1. 2 Chainz – Technically, 'Chainz is and isn't an artist that can be put into the category of latest hip hop artist. While with Playaz Circle, he was a part in making many hits but there is definitely something different about his 2012 music than what we have heard in the past. He seems to have come into his own. He has a certain command on the microphone and can change energy levels on a dime. With all of that being said, he isn't the most lyrical of the 'best of new hip hop' bunch but what he lacks in lyrical ability he makes up for with his seemingly effortless way of making hit songs.

2 Chainz has his own way of storytelling. While it isn't as deep in meaning as Stalley's method
and surely not as graphically vivid as Kendrick Lamar's, he tells hood stories for hood people.
While he bares similarities with other Dirty South rappers, a listen or two of his new music just
gives you the feel that he is going places. With industry experience in his back pocket and
relationships with major producers and things of the like, it's almost a given that 2012 will
be the year that he establishes himself in the world of new hip hop music as a solo artist!

  1. Bigg Verb DaVinci – The latest hip hop project that caught my eye coming in to 2012 was due to its title. Bigg Verb DaVinci's new double-length album is called “Death to Wack Rappers” and, anyone who knows anything about Detroit rappers/M.C.'s is fully aware that you've got to earn your keep and earn your claims in that city – especially when you are looking to go beyond its borders and transmit your work across the world. When I was given an advance copy, it was like a Christmas present you receive a month early – just sitting there, calling my name. I love it when M.C.'s take on the hip hop and new music industry and I had visions of dis-song after dis-song to hip hop's top artists making up the contents of the new albums.

I was partially right. This new music entrepreneur doesn't hold anything back when he
addresses the stagnate pool of new music out there and the people who make it. (You'll have to
listen yourself to know who all he calls out). Packing more borderline-violent energy than I've
heard in a while [that is completely rooted in passion for hip hop and passion for the streets],
I was taken aback that 2012's music scene may just have a new hit-maker and that man spells
'big' with TWO G's. The same intensity that he pours into anti-swagger-rapper tracks, anti-
fake-rapper songs and street anthems that I can see cars blaring far beyond 2012, he uses in
his ballads (there are a few), his club anthems (which are the kinds of new music future hits that
don't sound a bit manufactured) and there is plenty of fire in his voice when speaking on the
state of our freedoms, as well.

There isn't a type of hip hop that 'DaVinci doesn't seem to have mastered. In his bio, it's
apparent why; he's been on the hip hop music scene in a dead-end city for a very long time -
since he was a teen. Whether it was with punchlines that literally made me laugh out loud,
tear-jerking love songs that were based in reality, hood anthems that come from a true “Rap
Bully” or personal lesson-teaching offerings that 2012 music definitely needs; the double-
length latest hip hop release out of Detroit entertained from beginning-to-end. A brief
conversation with this new music entrepreneur informed me that his latest hip hop album
was put together in a hurry and with hardly no budget at all. All I can ask is, “What will happen
when this guy is given more time and resources to invest into his product!?!”

If Bigg Verb DaVinci has anything to say about it, new music for 2012 and beyond will be
much more honest, a little rougher-around-the-edges, definitely more lyrical and also – more
affordable! (His latest hip hop double-length album “Death to Wack Rappers” is only a $10
download).

Still independent, you can get Bigg Verb DaVinci's new album(s) -and hear snippets of every track and also hear exclusives produced by Snoop Dogg and featuring Daz Dillinger - at: Latest New Music, New Rap Entrepreneur - Top of "Best New Rappers 2012 List"
